What a listing means, and how to check the lawyer.
A listing is a registration, not a rating
The Anti-Money Laundering Act covers anyone who provides certain services, such as managing client money or assets, or creating and managing companies. Firms that offer these services register with the Anti-Money Laundering Council. A listing shows the firm registered. It is not a license to practise, a quality rating, or a recommendation.
Anti-Money Laundering Act, Sec. 3(a)(7), as amended by R.A. 10365 ↗Check the lawyer, not only the firm
Every Philippine lawyer appears on the Supreme Court’s list of lawyers with a Roll of Attorneys number and date of admission. Search it by last name. Papers a lawyer files in court must also show their Roll, IBP, and PTR numbers and MCLE compliance, so you can ask any lawyer for them.

A notary public must hold a current commission for the city or province where you sign. The notary’s signature block shows the commission number and its expiry date. Sign only in the notary’s presence, with a valid ID.
Cannot afford a lawyer?
The Public Attorney’s Office, IBP legal aid, and law school legal aid clinics help people who qualify, for free.
